2008 in a nutshell

Does anyone else have the feeling of "Where the heck did 2008 go?" It seems the older I get the faster time flies by. Like it seemed like it was yesterday that I was working at Barnes and Noble counting down tills...although I haven't done that for over a year now. But I have also noticed that I have only been driving for 4 years. Whats with that? Somehow times seems to be flying yet I am kinda stuck in quicksand slowly going through life.

This year has been quite an adventure...So I thought i'd share my top 10 defining moments of 2008!

1. Getting my first office job at the University of Utah's Student Recruitment and High School Services.

2. Story: George and I had been living in an apartment on G st. and 2nd ave in Salt Lake City since August 2007. Well by the time march hit, we were fed up with everything that we went through in that apartment. For instance; We always had bugs in our bathtub, mold in a bedroom, our heater never worked, we never had a copy of our lease, we had neighbors who had an entire headshop in their kitchen and the people above us had like 5 dogs and a baby. Thats not the worst of it though. There was a time when in the middle of the night I woke up to the sound of sizzling. I hopped out of bed thinking something was catching fire in the kitchen. It turns out it was my curling iron(Which I always leave on) which was surrounded from water that was coming up from our bathroom sink! I called our awful landlord Molly and she said she'd get it fixed in the morning. WELLL...It took days for them to even come. It turns out the water coming out of our sink was the bathwater of our neighbors upstairs(the ones with like 5 dogs and a baby) GROSS HUH! So yeah, I had enough of that so we put in our 60 day notice that we were moving out. As the 60th day in the hell hole drew closer, I ran into my awful landlord Molly one day and she said "Hey, when are you moving out?" and I said "On the 8th of April" and then she said "Well since you're staying past the day rent is due, you have to pay rent for the full month of April....then I was like "OHHH HEAAAAAL NO". So I called the land owner and yelled at him! Anyways, the moral of this story is that I yelled at someone above me and won. Because of it, George and I saved about $300. but also because of it, we had to move out of our apartment in like 7 hours. Which was crazy....

3. Getting my second and perminent job in the HR dept. of America First Credit Union

4. BUYING MY FIRST CAR! My cute little Yaris!

5. Learning how to play the guitar! And getting my very own guitar! Now I can really pretend to be a rockstar(Don't worry, you'll know my name in 5 years ;) )

6. I almost died. Really. For the first time in my life, I was driving in my car and I spun out of control and did a 720 in the median with oncoming traffic coming toward me. This moment is on my top 5 scariest moments of my life. (Which will maybe turned into another blog later on...but don't hold your breath hehe) but I'm alive and well. thank goodness.
7. TCU VS U of U game! Oh my goodness... Best Game Ever.
8. My first night spent in a hospital(That I can remember at least) when George got his appendix removed. I will never forget how they wouldn't let me sleep in the bed next to him and instead I had to sleep on that horrible excuse of a reclining chair. Or when George seriously asked the nurse if she could ever see a person with an eyepatch and not think that they were a pirate. Arrg.
9. The Wii. It has revolutionized the way my family spends time. Instead of building settlments, we rock out by playing Tom Sawyer by Rush or get told by a machine that our center of balance is off.

10. All my spontaneous adventures with George. Everywhere from cliff jumping at Causy to locking my keys in the car in the middle of Burbank and trying to explain where I am to a man who hardly knew english or the city he lived in.
I hope you've enjoyed hearing just a few of my wild and crazy experiences of 2008. Now that I look back on it, I'm kind of glad it's over but I am so excited for 2009. I think it'll be a great year. One filled with a bundle of harmony being born and maybe even some wedding bells ringing(figuritivly speaking of course. I don't want wedding bells at my wedding)

Anyways, Here are some great highlights of the year... So long 2008!
